Markus Fohr Style 9 Clay Pipe Review

Markus Fohr is a pipe maker who lives in Montabaur, Germany, about 70 Miles from Frankfurt, Cologne and Düsseldorf in the region of Westerwald. His family has been making clay pipes for generations. He uses the fine white clay of the region which has been prized for centuries and is used to create the famous pottery of this region. His pipes are completely handcrafted and come in a variety of designs.

My Notes:

I was looking for a small clay to fit my AM smoking schedule (about 30-minutes), this one seemed to match perfectly. This is a great lil clay with a thicker bowl design. I had my first bowl tonight, figured some Peterson Irish Flake with side of single malt. Since the end isn't glazed, dipping into the drink from time to time avoids the lips from sticking to the clay.

I have dirt envy that is a cool looking clay. I will be getting one of those I fubared my Wally Franks in the fire pit.

Thanks brother, I also picked up the P&C three clay w/SWR pouch

special as well...I find these smaller clays great for sip'in new blends

I really have been looking at that exact one? Is it worth the extra cash he asks for it? The other clay pipes available seem so much more reasonable

I also have a Dutch Gouda from PV as well and they are great pipes (much thinner in construction, but has fuller draw) so for the $7.xx diff in price, IMHO...own both
I will try and post up some better images of both next to a zippo so you can really see them side-by-side and also the clay from Ireland
