I’ll have to try one of the above mentioned. The only mango aromatic I’ve tried was Peter Stokkebye Mango No. 44. It smelled compelling before lighting, and had a very pleasant room note at a slow burn, but it tasted a little ... sour? I tried smoking it a few times; I guess I never did get it right.

Alright so I know now what my next order will have. Some Solani and Dankse and a pound or two of something awesome. Gotta find a good bulk English.

Check out Pipes & Cigars Best Of The Rest English can be had for $16.99/LB and is a delicious English blend for a excellent price. Their Aro blend was so good I came back about a month later for another LB and it was the same mixture so I believe it is fairly consistent and worth a shot since it's even cheaper than the D&R pounds which are usually among the best deals on the market.

I love mango and discovered the Solani Tropical Mango Flake when I was looking for a few whacky blends early this year to try during the upcoming warmer months. I tried the tobacco several times and cannot find enjoyment with it yet. I was unable to find any mango in the aroma or flavor. I tried rubbing it out and cubing it, smoking it from cob and briar, and drying to various degrees. Most of what I experienced was a vague sweetness and lots of chemical flavors. I jarred it up at the time (months ago) and have decided that it's time to revisit it again based on this thread. I'll report back on Wednesday since that's the next opportunity that I'll have to fire up a pipe.

In the meantime, I am happy to swap mango tobacco with somebody that is interested in trying the Solani Tropical Mango Flake. Just shoot me a PM. I have a tin of Rattray's Exotic Passion, but did not find any mango it in either. It would be nice to find a flavorful and enjoyable mango blend!

Revisiting the Solani Tropical Mango Flake right now. The flakes have darkened a little bit in the jar and the aroma as smoothed out as well. It's definitely less chemically scented than before and more appealing. It still doesn't really smell like mango or any distinguishable fruit. The flavor is very much the same situation as it's not as chemically as before, but it's also definitely not mango and just has some vague fruitiness. Reminds me of a more intense version of Savinelli Brunello Flake in some ways (I could be wrong about this statement as it's been awhile since I've had Brunello, so that's now on the list to revisit as well), but just isn't favorable to my palate. While not overtly chemical tasting now, it's still artificial, unfocused, and NOT mango or any real tropical fruit. There is also a smidge of manure in the undertones (not joking). Overall, I still really dislike the Solani Tropical Mango Flake. Based on my personal experience, I cannot recommend this blend for people on the search for a good mango blend.

Coincidentally I ordered a tin of the Solani this month and tried it today.

It has a topping that reminds me of firedance flake, but a bit sweeter. The tobacco flavor also comes through well, which is a must for me with aromatics.

I'll be getting a few more tins of this in my next order, since I sure can't find firedance anywhere. The underlying tobacco is not the same, but it is quite good.

Smoked it in my Scandia.

wonderful. I personally think mango goes great with tobacco. Neither seems to over power the other, they play nice together.

Very interesting that you compared Solani Tropical Mango to Samuel Gawith Fire Dance. I was excited to find some Fire Dance in bulk at a tobacconist very early this year, but was then quite disappointed with the flavor as I didn't get any of the expected blackberry and vanilla from it. My experience was that it just didn't deliver the expected flavor(s) much like my experience with Solani Tropical Mango. For me, the Dan Tobacco aromatics that I've had definitely deliver the flavor!

Firedance has more of a.... ummmm.... vomit taste to it. Whatever they use as the casing is NOT just blackberry and vanilla. When the brandy hits that tobacco, it just becomes something... different... more of a bile taste, IMO.
Luckily for me I just get nothing from Fire Dance rather than bile! I had heard that it was good mixed with some Arango Balkan Supreme, but that was also a fail for me. That combination didn't do anything expect bring down the delicious taste of straight up Balkan Supreme.

Actually, I found that blending it with Newmister Blackberry made it so that I could finish the tin of FD, but I'm pretty sure the Newmister was doing most of the heavy lifting.

Huh, more firedance for me then I guess.

If it is so awful why is it always out of stock?

I'd always heard good things about it, too. I'm wondering if the Fire Dance I got had just been hanging out in the bulk jar for too many years and lost most of its topping. The aroma I get from it out of my jar is mostly dusty and stale with just a whiff of berry.
