Not likely. Smoking has become unpopular in our culture, to the point where most tobacco users are marginalized. Even people who want to enjoy it are being financially squashed by the insurance companies. Who is going to buy all this bootleg baccy? Alchohol use, on the other hand, is very popular and normalized. Even alcohol abuse is celebrated and lauded in some circles of our society.

"Rumor has it, that FDA is going to take particular notice of pipe carvers based in Red Deer AB first. ;)

Yup I'm pretty sure if I get a letter from the FDA I'll know just what to do with it. Bad enough the border guy stuck his fingers in my ass when I came to the chicago show.

Yeah, all pipe makers should move to Colordo, since cannabis is legal here, they could easily justify their craft. Though, it may be difficult to argue the utility of large bowls for weed (unless you are a Rastafarian). In fact, y'all should move to Colorado.

hiplainsdrifter - If someone can make money smuggling in tobacco, then it would be done. Even now there are people smuggling cigarettes from one state to another because of the high taxes.
I'm hoping that the Native American Tribes with large reservations are taking note of all this and will start producing tobacco products. I'm sure they will find a court that will back their doing so just as they did with gambling casinos in some states.
Maybe the Cherokee People could do a pipe tobacco and name it "White Man".

Hmmm. Might be a revenue stream for the Nations. They could do new blends, package it without warnings, and sell it online. I don't know exactly how it would work, or how much legal work and legislation would be involved, but at the least, it could be an on site business on the tribal lands. I remember when casinos were a big no-no almost everywhere, and now they're just almost everywhere. Prohibition has never worked particularly well, over time.

The FDA is not going to investigate every one man operation to see if they are following the law. Make your pipes ans forget about the FDA, it could take 30 years before they even learn your name.
