I have long wanted to try Red Rapparee. It has such a varied blend of many types of tobaccos that it seems as though it would be a real treat.
How would you describe the experience?
To my palate, it is a real treat.

Another forum member sent me a few samples last summer, one of which was Red Rapparee. As of that time, the only English I'd had was EMP, which to my taste was bland and cigarettey (I've never smoked a cigarette, but it smelled like that to me). I looked at some of the descriptions on tobaccoreviews.com, and tried Red Rapparee first. I was not disappointed.

Compared to EMP, Red Rapparee had a much richer flavor: sweetish, nutty, and woody, and it seemed like the flavors would vary with each relight. I still remember sitting out on the deck, wondering whether it could really be that good. I enjoyed it so much, I had to try it again the next day to see if it was still as good as I'd remembered. It was. After I finished the sample, I ordered a 3.5 oz tin. (That tin tasted flat at first, until it spent a week or two in the jar.)

According to my notes, it's been a few months since I smoked Red Rapparee, so I tried it again yesterday. It was still a treat: flavors as good as I remembered, though not as rich as other Englishes I've had lately (like the Quiet Nights I tried a few days ago). I don't think you can go wrong by giving it a try.

Thanks, Joe. That was a good write-up and gives me even more desire to get some, which I will. I am very familiar with EMP so I will try it with that in mind. Thanks again.
