This blend was recommended as a good blend for those new to smoking pipes. For those who did recommend it...Hats off! What a great smoke! Over the past few days I tried DH Elizabethan, an aromatic freebee (plum and vanilla) 'hausmarke' from the shop from which I bought my pipe and now this, the 7 seas 'royal blend'. I have to say that this was the favourite of the three by a long shot. Wonderfully mild with a nice aroma and taste the honey vanilla coming through in a nice balance. A beautifully thick smoke that coated the mouth and didn't overpower the senses. Coming from smoking mainly Maduro wrapped cigars I was expecting to like powerhouse blends, which I don't think you'd class this as, so I was surprised when I was so impressed with this.
Of course I'm merely a babe in these matters but I thought if other starters read a thread extolling the virtues of this blend as a great one for beginners then perhaps it would help.
Thanks PM for the shove in the right direction.

If you like the 7 Seas Royal (as do I), try Peterson's Sunset Breeze. I'm betting you'll like that, too.

I smoke a lot of 'Royal' and the 'Regular'. I liked them both but the Royal shone through. I add a tin to an order every so often just for a sweet taste. I'm glad to hear you liked it and you might like the Regular so don't pass it up. Some other sweet treats to try are Three Blind Moose or Killington from 4noggins or Peter Sokkebye Nougat.

Happy smoking!! :puffy:

Np! I'm a big aro smoker so I've tried quite a few different blends in the last year (almost a year)

I tried the entire 7 Seas line from Mac Baren and enjoyed every one of them. They're all sold in bulk at a reasonable price, $25/lb, so you can get samples of an ounce or two for around $5 or less. I ordered 8oz of them all and an extra 8oz of the Regular Blend since I liked it so much.
I have to agree with the Red Blend being very good. It's not your run of the mill cherry aromatic. It's more of a tart wild cherry flavor than a sweet candy cherry flavoring. If you're into aromatics and are looking for a cherry blend definitely pick up a tin or an ounce of it.

I enjoy Royal as well. Gold was my first pipe smoking experience and they are both my favorite aromatics.

I just purchased 2 ounces of seven seas royal today and I like it, it's smooth and mild with a decent but subtle flavor. No bite. I am planning on trying the other blends as well. Thanks for the helpful reviews, they helped me on deciding whether to buy it or not, I have no regrets!
