I know Mixture is available in bulk. Is Mixture Modern?

Right—confusing way to put the question. Is Mac Baren Mixture Modern available in bulk?

As far as I can tell, it only comes in the 3.5oz tins...I would probably buy a pound bag if it was available. I have been going through a tin of Modern very quickly.

I've never seen Mixture Modern in bulk. I've smoked many pounds of Mixture over the years both bulk and tinned. Might have to check out reviews of the Modern.

The Modern is a very nice treat. For me it's like Royal Yacht. A tin a month or so, especially when it's hot outside on the deck! These two are about as aromatic as I can stand because they don't have a chemical taste to them.

I may be wrong, but I have a lot of this, one of my favorites, but I think they are the same. On the tins it may just say mixture or Scottish mixture but in the bulk I'm pretty sure it's all the same. If I am incorrect I always open to new information!

I was given a tin of some iteration of that blend about twelve years ago, and it was nothing but MacBite. I tried aging it. I tried mixing it. I tried drying it. It is the blend with the most edges I have ever tasted, to the degree I couldn't taste the tobacco.

Maybe it ia greatly improved. Maybe some like it and some don't. But it was rough going for me, and I finally slung it in the trash.

Modern Virginia was discontinued at least three years ago.

Well Jim, it's clearly been a while since I bought some. However now I will need to manage how much I smoke. It was your review that turned me on to this stuff; and it's now my first tobacco blend to go out of production.

I'm pleased that my review helped you. And I most certainly know what it's like to have a favorite blend go away. It's happened to me a bunch of times. I do know somebody who has extra although I'm not sure how much he'd want for a box or two.

No worries. I am not really a premium smoker so it's better for me to conserve than search and pay top dollar. As I shared, I throw it in as a periodic treat. Now it will be my special occasions only treat.
