Mac Baren has really hit a homerun with this line. To my tastes, they're all varying degrees of good. My least favorite is probably Acadian Perique, hardly a bad blend. Have the VA and Latakia flakes coming in the mail which will be the last two for me to try, I think. My favorite is HH Bold Kentucky and I also really liked Vintage Syrian. I also appreciate MB for offering these in 50g, 100g and 1 pound quantities for maximum choice and value.

All of them are excellent, although not all of them are to my liking.

Highlights for me are Acadian Perique (rich and buttery taste...if 3 Nuns were a potato, then Acadian Perique is a baked potato with butter), Vintage Syrian (haven’t yet tried the replacement Balkan), Old Dark Fired (add some old leather to the aforementioned baked potato :))and Burley Flake.

I was underwhelmed by the Virginia Flake, but I think it is because I was expecting something different. I need to give it a fair re-evaluation. Same goes for Latakia Flake. I had it as a new pipe smoker, so I’m sure I did not give it a fair trial.

The Strong Kentucky caught me completely off guard, but again that’s because my expectations were not in line with the product. This one to me is very much like a Gawith rope in flavor.

I think there’s something for every pipe smoker in this line.

I have been smoking HH Vintage Syrian for years. It is always in rotation. I still have about 2.5 lbs stashed away. Likewise, I keep the Burley Flake in rotation.
I've also enjoyed, and smoke regularly, Latakia Flake and Pure Virginia. And there's two tins of Mature Virginia left. One of them now has ten years on it - maybe I will try for fifteen.
