So I have been trying to build up my supply of tobacco. I am also trying out new blends when I can.

My last haul included 8oz. of Peter Stokkebye Luxury Bullseye Flake. I have a penchant for VA blends and this comes highly recommended.

I intended on just throwing it in a ball jar and leaving it to age until I got through all the other blends I have bought and have yet to smoke.

My big mistake was to steal one flake. It looked easy to prepare and the little black button of black cavendish fascinated me.

I smoked one flake in a new pipe(to me). It is a Whitehall estate that smokes well but I have not bonded with. One bowl was all it took. It made the decision to keep the pipe easy. They just worked so well together.

Although, This blend seems to work with every pipe I have tried it in.

While I am new to smoking and wouldn't consider myself a reliable reviewer of tobacco... This stuff is like magic to me. It rubs out easily. Left it out to dry for maybe 15 minutes I was rewarded with a cool dry smoke and only required relights when I neglected it. The flavor is sweet and smooth right to the bottom of the bowl.

I never experienced any bite even when I smoked a little too quickly.

I have been opening this jar and hitting this like it was a cookie jar... One is just not enough.

I checked back on Smoking Pipes and they are currently out of stock. I will be jumping on a lot more of this as soon as it is restocked.

I agree; this is one of my favorites. I only got a couple of ounces a few months back but it will definitely be one that I increase my order on next time around!

Those little disks are magic aren't they? I always grab a few and cob when I go out for a walk. I've even been know to forgo rubbing and just fold them up and stuff them in.

I'm with you guys. I've got about 5 lbs in the cellar since I first tried it. Tasted better after a few months. Can't wait to try some after the year mark.

I like that blend a lot, but I only use about half of the Black Cavendish. I think the full amount in the coin adds too much of a velvety cover on the other leaves.

On my recent trip to Nashville, a customer came in to the Uptown Smoke Shop and bought a pound of LBF. I told him I am a fairly new pipe smoker and asked him how he smoked it? He asked me if I had a pipe with me? I pulled one out and he took two of his coins and loaded my pipe. He pushed the first one in button down sort of forming a cup in the bowl. He took the second coin, sort of rolled it up and stuffed inside the cup he made of the first one. He took a few loose bits from his new bag and sprinkled them on top. He loaded his pipe the same way. We took a seat and fired them up. It was GOOD! Nice guy! Love B&Ms! - bp

I'm curious... How does the bulk stay fresh at 1 and 5 lbs? I see you are letting it age but I thought that once you open it up and let the air get to it it starts to deteriorate or may get moldy. Or am I miss informed?
Still trying to learn as much as I can....

I recd 1 lb each ~1 month ago PS LBF,LNF,LTF along with 2 tins each of Capstan Blue Flake and Three Nuns. I enjoy all 3 very much. I have tried both newminster tobacs the Coins and their Navy Flake. I did not care for either one. They are both quality tobaccos, the Navy Flake tasted like MacBarens tobac, which does not agree with me for some unknown reason. Now the Newminster Coins tasted like Three Nuns to me, which is just ok, nothing great for me. I Have jarred the open tin of Three Nuns and sit the second tin back both for aging. I have also sit back 1 jar each of PS LNF,LBF infused with whiskey sealed and dated 7/13... I also did the same for a 1 week trial using whiskey, so far it has been just an ok smoke with both, hopefully maybe 1 year will make the difference.
Take Care.
Mike.

I sure wish I had the patience to age tobacco. Glad you found a smoke you like. Enjoy.

Bryanf....you should try aging... Buy a few ounces of a blend you like and just try and lose it for a year or so... It is fun to see what a year will do.

Funny I found this post was brought back to life. I made the original post four months ago. I have been sampling a lot of different tobaccos and just revisited the LBF last night and It seems to be getting so much better with a little age. I just ordered some Newminster 403. Can't wait to try it out.

I had to have my girlfriend hide a pound of LBF for me so I'm not tempted; that was about 6 months ago I still pull a few coins every now and then from the half pound on the shelf. It seems to be improving or maybe I just like it that much more.
