It looks like cigarette tobacco, honestly. Very dry, not crunchy but definitely no added humectants. Smell is all natural tobacco with a hint of spice.
A bit perplexing but I guess I was expecting a thicker cut so maybe that is throwing me off.

That looks nothing like shag. Shag tobacco looks more like a thread, it does not have an obvious flat surface.

A quick bowl first impressions. It is more complex than I thought it would be and has a nice sweet/sour tug of War with a nice after taste. Smoother than I thought it would be but I am a rookie so what do I know. I am not sure what I would compare it too. More sampling is needed. Later tonight I will have time to give it some contemplation. Easy to light, a one match deal but is slow burning. No artificial tastes here.

Kanse, I suppose it is not a shag like, say, DBE, but it is a chopped thin ribbon. In any case, to me, it does not taste or smell like cigarette tobacco.

In looking at the bag, what are you seeing? It looks like 3-4 different tobaccos. So all Virginia with the lighter being the Turkish? Brown, dark brown, tan, reddish brown, and light brown and even whitish.

I got a pound of that too. It's a bit like Oriental Silk, minus the perique. Sweet earthy with a bit of sour. Some slight cigar taste in the background. Not bad at all. Adding a little moisture is a plus with this one.

I did not get the cigar. It is very smooth. I read the reviews of Oriental Silk and agree that is what I am tasting. Is the Turkish the sour component? And does it add a little spice? A bargain at the current prices. At the least, it is for me. I have never given much thought to cellaring tobacco but this one is affordable so I may put some of this and their straight Virginia aside. Oh, and how do you add moisture? And do you add before putting away for aging?

I recommend you check out the D&R line currently on sale at P&C. All their blends are top notch, come dry and clean, and offer distinctive variety.

I've still got some lbs from last yrs sale and just ordered more.

I feel 'guilty' buying tins, but not so bad if I 'get a good deal' on excellent tobacco in a bag.

I even ordered an lb of their sigaro this time, which is supposed to be cigar leaf.

Picked that up slightly on the retrohale.

Yep, wonderful isn't it?
Oh, and how do you add moisture? And do you add before putting away for aging?
I do it per bowl by blowing through the stem until I feel warm air and moisture rising from the bowl. Prior to jarring though, you can spread the tobacco out on a dish and lightly mist with distilled water.

Not yet, the Virginia Oriental caught my attention, but will likely add it to the collection as well.

I found it to be slow burning. A very cool, dry smoke. As Embers said, it might could benefit from some additional moisture. It is nothing like Semois in burn rate. Be happy to send you some.
