This has to be one of my favorites. Would love to have this tin someday. But, they go too expensive when they do show up on ebay. :((

Briar Bully, I think you'd enjoy a book called Tobacco Tins and Their Prices by Al Bergevin. I got it at Half.com for about $6.

Two hundred and thirty pages of nothing but photos of old tins. Some are cigar tins, chewing tobacco tins and snuff tins.

Most are black and white and so-so photos with prices from the 1980's

And a very few are in color. Very few.

250 USD in the 80s? That's like a 650 dollar tin in today's money!

I gotta tell you; out of what seems to be a thousand photos, probably 990 of them are black & white,.......only 15 are high quality color.
But, if you look around it can be had for just a few bucks.
Happy hunting!

If we go with modern tins I've always liked this one:

Beautiful tin art for a nasty tasting tobacco.

SL was one of the first tobaccos I tried. I opened the tin and was greeted with "old leather jacket" smell. So I figured, surely it must taste better than it smells and lit it up. It tasted like smoking burning hair. :D
I've realized I'm not a latakia person.

Tommy, thanks for the posting those page views. They're great. Real Americana.

I wonder what "Possum" tobacco tasted like. Hard to imagine that as someone's "go-to smoke."

I paid most attention to that Possum tin, too. Something about it intrigues me! I wish our branding strategies were that simple today. I love it in a bizarre kind of way.
