Recently I purchased a Savinelli 122 pot, and I just love it. I've always been more drawn esthetically to pipes with bigger bowls and deeper but narrower chambers, but I may be changing; this pipe smokes beautfilly and feels great. Could I get some recommendations for other Savinelli pipes that might have similar characteristics? Maybe the 316? The 315? The 320? Something else? Thanks everyone. I am learning A LOT reading this forum.

Got any pics? :D Sav's are my favourite and I love the 122 model...
I like the majority of their models, but the 320 KS is certainly a popular one, and it would work with your slightly-bent-and-chunky pipe look!
BTW, welcome to the forum!

The Sav 122 is terrific for complex blends, say five or more different constituent tobaccos in a blend. It really opens them out. Rossi, a subset of Savinelli, makes a prince with a very wide bowl circumference. The Sav 320 is hugely popular too, but a little heavy for its proportions for me, but most people love 'em.

Find yourself a Giubileo D'Oro. But I have several including a churchwarden, an Oom Paul and a system pipe. They all smoke great.

What's the deal with the filters on them? The filters have always confused me and steered me away from them.

I don't think any collection is complete without a Savinelli 320 in it. I have a Sistina 320 and it's the most reliable pipe in my collection. If you don't like the filters, don't use them. Just put in the adapter. But I think the balsa filters work great. They cut down on my persistent problem of drawing too hard and don't hurt the taste of the tobacco (my opinion, others disagree). So if you don't have a 320 yet, I'd go there first. They're so popular for a reason.

Thanks, everyone. I think I'm gonna order myself a 320. I must admit that when I first saw one I thought, "what a squatty and homely little pipe," but the more I look at them and the more I hear about them the more I think that they are not only functional but rather attractive. By the way, I purchased my 122 (Porto Cervo, which is nothing fancy but I like it) from Cupojoes.com. They were great; the price was very good, and it was delivered on a Monday (Portland, Oregon) after ordering it only two days earlier on a Saturday.

I can see a Sistina in my future if I ever grow to like pots! I have a couple of pots, but don't smoke them much at all. I prefer a deeper bowl.

I own 5 Savinelli pipes, and I think they're all great smoking pipes. I have a 645 Bent Apple Short Pipe, a 616 KS Trevi (rusticated), a 320 KS Trevi (smooth), a 111 KS Toscana, and a 412 KS Polo. Of those my favorite is the 645 followed closely by the 616.

jpmcwjr, definitely go for a Sistina! I have a 127 and it's an absolute beauty, as well as a great smoker!
