My condolences to you. It's good to know he was esteemed by you and your family,

and that he lives on in your heart and memories. For him there is no better tribute.

I convey my deepest sympathy to you and your family. What a fine looking gentleman, a tribute to longevity being a pipe smoker to live on in your memory with pride.

My condolences on your loss, sir. Your grandfather was of a generation that shall never pass this way again. They saw more changes in the world, braved hardships and fought wars so that we would not have to (had we been paying attention to what they told us). I know this because your grandfather and my father would have been the same age.
The loss is difficult, but you you were so fortunate that he was part of your life for so long...you have much to be thankful for this year.

I know that no words can make the passing of a loved one easier, but I am very sorry for your loss. My grandmother passed away last month so I know to some extent what you are going through. My condolences go out to you and your family.

Thanks again to everyone for the kind words. I even shared them with my wife. The funeral was Saturday and as I come from a family of musicians, my father and I played guitar while my brother sang "Amazing Grace." It was really touching.
Again you guys are the best. It is truly appreciated.

My condolences to you and your family .

Your grandfathers generation went through the great depression,

fought the evil axis of world war 11 and provided the bullwork aganist

communism during the cold war. Tom Brokaw had it right , your

grandfather was part of the greatest generation ....
God Bless You and family :(

Sorry for your loss, mrjerke. Granddads are one of a kind for sure. Glad he lived a long, fruitful life. I missed this thread last week as I was dealing with a similar situation, but please accept my delayed condolences.

Like Werdna, I missed this thread last week.
My condolences. Grandparents are the wisdom keepers and when one goes, they take all that knowledge and history with them.
I never knew my grandfathers. They were all gone by the time I was born. I had a grandmother, however, that filled in the blanks.
That is a wonderful photo and smile. It is great to have to remind you what a fine soul your grandfather was.
