I still enjoy the books. I try to read the entire set at lease once every few years. As far as the movies are concerned, it seems to have become a holiday tradition to do a marathon of them. So around Thanksgiving or Christmas time, they're usually on the television.

I also have all three DVDs, as well as all four books.
Honestly, I think Jackson did a pretty good job, since including everything in the books would take several more years of movies.
That being said; I still prefer the books. So much was left out, like the scenes with Tom Bombadill,the battle in the barrel mounds, Frodo's meeting with some of the first Elves leaving Middle Earth, ect, and yes, the songs.
I'll watch the movies again, and again... but I'm more apt to read the books and wear out a few Bic lighters relighting the Nording since I forgot to keep toking as I vanished into Middle Earth. :puffy:
