So I just started on the pipe and pretty much knee deep into now :) I have a few cheap pipes now, but I'm looking for a good lookin' rusticated poker. Preferably with a straight or slightly bent stem. I'm looking to spend around $100-$150 on it. The ones that I have seen are pretty much sold. Do you guys have any suggestions?
If it helps, I'm looking to dedicate this pipe to straight Virginians

May not be up to the standards at that price, but I like my LaRocca rusticated slightly bent poker,

and my Parker rusticated poker/cherrywood. The Parker is a briar but in the cherrywood style.

Both sit nicely. The Parker has a smaller bowl that may be more appropriate to Virginia blends.

I prefer Virginias in a small Group 4 or Group 3, not too wide or deep.

American Smoking Pipe Company
I would take a look at one of Mark's 2013 Christmas pipes in a Coral or Blast finish. I smoke Virginias exclusively and this is a great pipe for smoking Virginias. I actually bought a smooth for my collection and a dark blast for everyday smoking. Then I bought 2 more tan blasts after Mark showed me pics of them, one sandblasted by Michael Lindner and the other by Rad Davis. Ok so i went a little crazy, but what he sells for $200 others would charge $400, it would be a great pipe next pipe for you to try. Corals run $175 and blasts run $195 to $200ish.

mso489 -I tried looking them up, but to no avail. I'm going to keep digging around the net to try and pull of some pics and specs

tinpan-I really like those pipes! Especially the Dark Blast. I may have to give in the extra $50 and order one. I'm assuming they smoke like a champ

EDIT: Just noticed tinpan beat me to it. Should've payed more attention.
Bump your price by $25 and you can have a Mark Tinsky. I know it's more of a cherrywood shape and less of a poker but they're darn nice pipes. It also comes in red coral for the same price.

Hey man! As someone else said above, check out David Jones on eBay. He has some unique rustication in my opinion. Additionally, you may want to check out Chris McCartor - he has a Facebook page dedicated to his pipe making. He does fantastic work and is reasonable on prices. A lot of people love his poker shapes, and I have 2 of his pipes already. Might have to get a poker soon myself to be honest :)

I just checked out Chris McCartor, and I fell in love with this pipe:

Everything about it I was looking for, the size, color, shape. I may have to get in contact with him and get more details. Do you have an idea of how much this would run?

I think he charges around 120-140ish now. 130 is the highest I've seen from him so far. I have two from him - I can post pics later. I've only smoked one so far, a smooth full bent. Smokes really well so far though - nice and cool. No gurgle at all. The bowls are huge though - the full bent I have is at least an hour and a half. Glad I could suggest him; the best pArt is that he does it all by hand, which means what you get will be one of a kind!

Please post pics book. At that price it would be very difficult to pass up. It's actually cheaper than what I was planning to spend so it's a win win here.

Will-do. Haven't posted pics before so not sure how soon I'll get it to work. I have a bent Dublin from him too with a smooth bulldogish rim. The rustication is just awesome. Can't say enough about it.
So I have to post my pics in an online album somewhere and then copy the image code, correct? Is that how it works?

How long does Mark Tinsky take to make and ship one of his pipes? I've heard some artisans take months, and I'm in love with those Christmas pipes in a coral finish.

I usually send him an email asking him what he has ready to ship. He will usually send me a pic of one or two....it's almost not fair it's like waving a bag of crack to an addict.
That's how i ended up with 4 of them this year. I would suspect he has a couple Coral Carves ready to go or can finish one in a day or so. Blast's he sends out so they take a little longer, unless he has a shipment coming in. Most of the pipes I've gotten from him have arrived within a couple days. I swear it faster to ship from Montana to Washing DC than New York for some reason.
