EDIT: Fixed Capitalization in Title (See Rule 9)

Looking for help and recommendations pipe people.

I'm looking for an available pipe, or someone who would take a commission for the following:

-Finish: Sandblasted.
-Grain: Extensive and Pronounced ring grain (important)

-Shape: I'm flexible. Traditional shapes acceptable such as billiards, Dublin, brandy, apple, are all good. Nothing super bent for this one.
-Stem - Anything but black. Lighter colors preferred.

Price - $200 or less. Too many options at higher price points.

Am I being unreasonable? Thanks y'all

In my opinion is the “extensive and pronounced” ring gain that going to be hard to get at that price point.

The grade of briar block that produces that effect, along with the sandblast doesn’t generally happen all that often and those blocks are coveted because, if my understanding is correct, those are also strait grain blocks.

I absolutely wish you the best on your search. I’m sorry I don’t have more guidance.

My suggestion would be to take a look at some of the blasted artisan selections on Blueroom Briars (site sponsor, awesome seller). They carry a half-dozen makers that do very nice blasts on great smokers at very good prices. If you check out folks like Todd Harris, Ron Powell, Colin Rigsby, Jerry Crawford, etc...you'll get a good idea of quality/blast types in the sub $400 range.

The 'hard' part of your request is, taken literally, a standout ring grain blast is the value driver of the pipe. It's not ebonite vs. acrylic that is adding big $'s. It's a bit like asking "I need a spectacular uniform angel-hair grain with no fills on a smooth....$200 or less because I'm open to any shape/stem". The finish is the value......and well-done/grained blasts are hot, hot, hot right now in the market.

I think you can get some very high-character blasts at $250-$400, and Blueroom Briar is a great place for examples in that range.

It's not impossible. Choosing an estate would make it easier but there are new pipes that sometimes meet the criteria, such as BriarWorks, although maybe not as much as you'd like.

On SP for $110:

As suggested, search the site sponsors websites. You might have to wait a little while until what you want shows up.

I really like the idea of a commission, but with this set of options, I would look at artisan pipes already made, so you can weigh one feature against the other and find a good compromise at that price. Or maybe try for the commission, but keep this alternative in mind.

It's black stemmed, but nice ring grain at $175 from RC Sands:

RC's design school is of the big, bold, and heavy-duty smoker set.....so not where you'll find delicate lines. But he makes super solid smokers in traditional-ish' shapes, with some of the better blast for around $200. You can check him out on the same site I mentioned above, if he still takes commissions and you don't require a dainty build he's a great option in your $ range.
