Looking for a Work Horse Pipe

Like @Skink and @burleybreath, I have a few morgan bones pipes. I love that they are relatively cheap, but are sturdy and I do not care how they look. I have a couple of higher dollar pipes and I smoke them less than my bones I guess I worry that I will make them leas pretty in the process. I like the idea of the military mount petersons.

My Savinelli 2614KS rusticated is around 39 yrs old ... It still looks to be in very god condition. I think you might be underestimating how much use/abuse pipes can take. Whatever you get, get a rusticated finish for a work pipe. 2 cents

My work horse is a 1961 Dunhill Shell 127 pipe with a terrific blast. It was my first Dunhill estate purchase and I'm very attached to it.
The rim is a tad worn and it smokes like a dream . Consider Stanwell, in every aspect amazing good pipes for your precious bucks !

Ones I've seen over the past few years have a nasty habit of having the slot in the metal tenon chew up the mortise.

The old estate Savory pipes are tough, big, and cheap, been useing one while bushhogging my pasture for years

Peterson Irish Made Army in any model would make a good work horse pipe. Peterson Irish Harp in sandblast finish is also a good option.

MM cobs are good, or if you prefer briar, a Rossi or a Ropp might fill the bill. Some of the lower priced Nordings like their signature might fill the bill.

Savinelli's La Corta line is a bit pricey but might fit the bill. Very short, decent sized bowel, built like a tank, good for clenching. Comes in rusticated finishes. I have one and it is my work pipe (pipe i keep at work).

I have a Stanwell brass band 1/4 bent Dublin that serves that role. Great smoker, full of ghosts, push-mount stem. Love it!

I bought this Dr Plumb estate pipe online for a couple of dollars, it was well used before it got to me, it’s rough and not in the best shape but man I love it when working around the house. It just feels nice and always smokes good.
