What ya fishing for? I have been smoking Mac Baren 7Seas Royal. Next time out I may just bring Mac Baren vanilla flake? I do not think the fish care what you smoke so, smoke what you like. :puffy:

I need to get my fly rods out! I mostly fish for large mouth bass, but the cool weather is making those trout a little more willing! They better be because I am not so good at casting fly gear. :D

Good point flyfishn. Might want to picke up one of those wind caps for your pipe also? I got one and think it is great. Not just for windy days it keeps your tobacco in your pipe instead of spilling out in your pocket. They only cost $2.

I'm not much of a fisherman, but my dad and brother are. However, somewhere in the back of my head I can see myself on the river and I'm always smoking a cob filled with Angler's Dream or Trout Stream. I don't know why, but I think about these things sometimes...

I love smoking and I love fishing, but I've never done both at the same time. Funny you bring this great thread up because lately I've been telling my wife, I just want to go fishing and smoke my pipe. I would think a nice Latakia blend. Petersons Old Dublin (which I am smoking right this minute) would be great. Nice aroma and nice Latakia with Orientals.

Any pipe tobacco that you normally enjoy smoking should be fine. I haven't fished for close to 30 years but when I did my favorite smoke was Carter Hall. I usually smoked it in a cob or sometimes a Grabow so I didn't have too big a loss if I accidentally dropped my pipe in the water.

A full bent or an Oom Paul are much easier to hold in the mouth while flyfishing, lower center of gravity. I have a couple of full bents with wind caps.
