Longer Pipes - Do You Have a Favorite?

I'm not sure whether I want a churchwarden or a longer pipe like an oversized Canadian or Lumberman.
Do you have a favorite pipe that is around 7 inches or longer? I'm looking for ideas or perhaps inspiration.

I have churchwardens from Stanwell and Bjarne and they are both good smokers, the Stanwell is an old patent era acorn and the Bjarne is a freehand with a plateau top. I don't smoke either of them as often as I should, I just don't get in the Tolkien groove very often, but when I do they are fun to smoke, each of them are around 11" long.

I have three of Vauen's Auenland churchwardens. Love them. I also have a long Bing–style billiard by Bruce Weaver that is more convenient when out and about.

I like Canadian style pipes. Not crazy about Churchwardens. Basil Meadows made me a replica of the Merchant Service Bing Crosby pipe, which is about 6 and seven/eights inches long. Has a great balance so I can clench it, and is a great smoker.

I have a Basil Meadows lumberman, about 8" long, and the Tavern Cutty that he made, at 11". Both are the coolest, smoothest smoking pipes I have.

I admire the elegance of long pipes but find them cumbersome to smoke, and as I am a clenched, unwieldy. I've had 7" pipes under 50g, which is my limit, so as to comfortably clench, that would not balance in the mouth, so I also avoid anything over 6".

I really like my Savinelli Bing's Favorite. Almost 7 inches long and it's a great smoker. I highly recommend it.

I like my Sav 601 churchwarden, no filter and a nice arching stem. Also my straight Big Ben Lectura churchwarden. You may want something more upmarket, but the long stems make a nice reading pipe; leave your elbow on the arm of the chair and sip slowly, very relaxing.

Those Scottie Piersel's are amazing. I have been eyeing those for a few years.

Piersel's got some nice pipes on the American Pipe Maker's Website.
Is Basil Meadows Red Dog Pipes? He's got some very nice pipes. Unfortunately not taking commissions at the moment. He needs to get caught up etc.

I spent about $50 at Missouri Meerschaum the other day. Now I am wishing I spent the $ for one of his Bullet Proof Cobs. Those are cool too.

A couple of my best smokers are not upmarket pipes, so I am always on the lookout for inexpensive pipes that I think might smoke like a champ.

One of my most expensive pipes was a sour and wet smoker.

I almost pulled the trigger on this 7 inch Calebresi (Christiano) Lumberman the other day. It was very affordable with pretty grain and some really ugly carving.

I kind of regret not trying it out.
As far as Savinellis go, I admit they are very attractive and quality pipes. I just haven't had good luck with Savs and Stanwells. It's a real shame because I constantly find myself liking the Savinellis.

A Charred Hillbilly from Smoky Mountain Pipes with a 15" stem.

A Cobbit by MM with a 7" stem.

From Jan Szymon Golowacz is this 9 1/2" long Bamboo shank Mermaid.

From Brian Ruthenberg is this 8 1/2" bamboo shank with Cumberland stem Billiard.

There are others but I'll stop here.

I only have one, an Elliott Nachwalter churchwarden. I don't smoke it that often, but the full bend makes it fairly easy to clinch.

But for me,

'fish, whoa, speaking of upmarket. If you want a long-stem small pipe, Iwan Ries has a line of EWA church wardens, 7 inches. Warning, the green stain comes stamped "Ladies," which surprised me, but hey, smokes good, and the stain ages well.
