Edited for capitals and added specific.

Quick question, blends kept in a paint can style tin such has the Peretti's cans or Reiner No 71 tin - do you need to transfer these into Mason jars for cellaring or is the can acceptable?

I’ve had HU blends in their paint can tins that were still moist when opened at 5 years. There was no indication they couldn’t go longer. Hope that helps.

The record is mixed on this. I have opened paint style tins to find contents fine after a few years, but dry after many years (ten plus). It's not a problem for me because I just rehydrate the old stuff. But be aware for cellaring more than 5-7 years.

I have some Peretti paint cans and waxed the lid on them. If I remember right they have a seam on the side as well which could fail I suppose. Time will tell if waxing the top actually works.

I haven't seen anybody complaining about the tins. I keep everything in the original tins and have no problems from, but I don't have any Peretti paint cans though.
