While I generally purchase tins and blends that my B&M doesn't carry, I still give them about $20 every two weeks by buying their bulk blends (They carry Mac Baren standard and HH blends; Dunhill bulk blends - which are some really old stock and that makes me happy; Peter Stokkebye Luxury blends and of course Altadis stuff) and my cleaning supplies (pipe cleaners, shank brushes, etc.). I know it's not going to keep them afloat, but it will make them see that there is a repeat customer who enjoys their bulk pipe tobacco selection and isn't there for cigars.

I generally buy mine at the local shop. I am lucky enough to have several tobacco/pipe/cigar shops in a 30-45 minute drive from my house. We also have a chain here in PA called Custom Blends. They have pipe tobacco, RYO, and cigars. They have some nice house blends. I live close to Gettysburg (Gettysburg Cigar Co.) and also Chambersburg (Boswells)as well as several in MD. I have never actually purchased tobacco online.

I generally smoke McClelland, and the brands I prefer are tin only; no bulk (Arcadia, Celebrated Sovereign, Blue Mountain, 3 Oaks Syrian). My local B&M charges me $14 (including tax) each. So far, I've not found an online retailer that can beat that price once shipping is factored in. Even if they beat it by a few pennies, I'd still rather spend my money locally.

None of the B&Ms in my town carry any tins...except the one house blend at the Tinderbox(1792 or somesuch) so if I want any of the big name items, online is my only option.

I buy whatever tobacco I can from my local shops, and pay dearly for it in S. Florida ($29 for a 50g tin), to be sure, but if I don't patronize my local shops, they will close. I like going to them, visiting with friends, and swapping lies with the liars, so I bite the bullet and pay more so I can continue to visit them.

I always buy online. I wait until I am ready to shoot in an order in the hundred dollar range and get free shipping. Can't drive the 35 miles one way for that cost!
