Most Peterson XL pipes last me anywhere between an hour to two. If I dry the tobacco well, and pack very light, just over an hour. That's my ideal smoking duration,an hour. Smaller pipes such as prince (406) last 35-45 min. Cobs usually last about as long as small pipes (due to how I pack). So I prefer slightly bigger chambered pipes.

I like a range of size pipes. It is amazing what a long smoke you can get in a small bowl with flake/coin/plug/or rope. They can just burn and burn. On the other hand, when you want to ponder over the meaning of the universe, a huge bowl can do that. And if you are moving around a lot, a short stem on an ample bowl is a good compromise.
