Try: Lane Ltd: "HGL"...you'll always be able to find this bulk-blend. It's just "Captain Black"-original, with some added Latakia.

Easy-peasy, no queazy.

Presbyterian is one of my favorites. Tasty but mild. Also try kramers father dempsey and nat sherman 526. Both are also very good - the nat sherman seems to fly below the radar.
I like the sutliff match “codger” blends like walnut but be aware that most or all have burley in them and although you taste the latakia in the ones that have them to me they really arent the same as english blends like the others mentioned. They are more “tobaccoish” in taste.

Sutliff Count Pulaski, Sutliff Medium English, Sutliff Match Revelation, Sutliff Match Country Doctor, Wilke Royal Gentry Blend #2, Wilke Surbrug's Best Make, Wilke #24, Peretti 1072, Peretti D-9575, Peretti Blend W, and Watch City Deluxe Crumb Cut.

Match Barking Dog has a fair amount of Latakia and is a medium smoke, but the burley and rum work well with it. Edward G, Robinson's Pipe Blend has one percent Latakia, but you may like it.

Btw, the Walnut Match is Chestnut.

Thanks for the great list. Will definitely have to sample some of those.
Aha, I suspected that Match Walnut and Chestnut were the same, but haven't had the former.

Yup, I don't mind a little burley. Waiting on my Match Blue Boar to come in too. The codger blends with latakia seem to be fantastic. Might try adding a pinch of latakia to a pouch of Carter Hall and see what I get.

Damn, bro. I'm curious, do those Sutliff plastic tubs seem to keep stuff fresh for a good while? My Chestnut seems to be holding up alright in one, can't speak for the long term, though.
They have a plastic film glued on the opening of the tub. Once opened they get jarred.

+1 on SPC Potlatch. It isn't boomed up much, thrown in the shade by Plum Pudding, but a somewhat brilliant harmony of many tobaccos yet not overbearing. I've heard Presbyterian fills the bill nicely, though I haven't opened my tin. Another one I can strongly recommend from experience is Nat Sherman 536, mild but excellent, downright refined. I also like C&D Stratfordshire (though it is strong) and Tuggle Hall, more medium strength.

Sealed, they'll keep for years. I've opened 12 year old tubs and the tobaccos was still fresh and moist... and aged.

I peel back the seal carefully and don't take it all the way off. I take out what I want (usually an ounce of two at a time), replace the seal and press down, and put the lid back on. I find the tobacco stays fresh and moist for at least a year even with all of that. Saves me jar money.

That's great to know. It might be time to place an order for a pallet, then!
