My wife's father died a few months ago.He was a very good friend for fifty years. He smoked pipes, cigars, and chewed tobacco. He lived to be 87.Tomorrow my wife has to sign papers that will confine her mother to a nursing home until she also dies. We've visited four different places trying to pick out the best one.Of course all are smoke free..I've said as you prpbably also have that I wan't to live as long as I possibly can.If though I had to just sit around in a room that I had to share with someone else and and not be able to smoke my pipes I probably would change my mind.

Yes sir, life gets hard.

But if you think sitting in a room staring at the walls all day is pointless, I think a life without highs and lows and without a little struggle and some loss might be much the same.

All the best to ya puffy. Seems like there's been a surplus of loss here among the brotherhood. I saw my mum in law through pancreatic cancer and hospice care this time last year. It gets better, man.

Condolences. There's an old saying, "Life is what happens when you've made other plans." You just have to roll with the punches and hope it makes you a stronger person. I'm sure that you and your family will get through this period.

My condolences to you and your family.
We just went to a funeral two weeks ago. For my wife's uncle who was 81. Great guy, family man, fisherman, good husband. Very active in the Chinese community. He had been sick for 10 years. The family knew it was coming yet it was still hard to say good bye. Even though it is hard it reminds us to be thankful for the time we have with our loved ones.
I hope every thing goes smoothly for you in the coming days. Give your wife a nice long hug.
