Many of these Muslims, here in my land, eat ham and other things.

I was at a Catholic college at university.
There was a Muslim scholarship student at the same college who happily partook of bacon at breakfast

I actually did that last summer a few times. During long hikes I'd take a pipe break under the shade of a covered bridge that wasn't used for wheeled traffic anymore.

Even committing crimes and stealing from the infidel is not a sin. Yeah, I can't speak for society at large, but this is my main reason. I work on average 2-3x as long as most other people I know. Add in all my other hobbies and responsibilities and I just don't have the damn time. Sometimes I'm able to have a bowl while tending my garden... but clenching causes me to salivate so then I'm drooling and spitting everywhere like a fool.. plus if I'm actually paying attention to what I'm doing I could practically be puffin' a bowl full of rat hair and wouldn't know the difference.

To me a pipe is only truly enjoyed when you're home, in your den, it's clean, already well fed, the laundry's folded, the day's work and projects are done, and all your mind is clouded with is what movie to pick.....
I certainly do NOT get many of these moments lol.
Most of my cellar I'm basically holding onto solely for fantasies of a different life during retirement in my head... a pipe-dream, if you will...

Ever watch Tombstone? A society where a normal Tuesday was to wake up at 1PM hungover next to a tavern wench, go downstairs for your morning breakfast of whiskey, stroll down to the general store to pick up your laudanum, gun down some cow-poke on the way cause he called ya yella', then spend the rest of the night smoking poppy resin and shooting your revolvers wildly into the night sky... and it was still 10x more sane and honorable than the society we currently inhabit...

We had company last night from a young couple we had not met before, and my wife mentioned that I was a pipe smoker. They found this interesting (amazingly) and said they had never met a pipe smoker before and started asking questions. After a while I invited them to my smoking room to take a look. They were amazed at all the pipes and the large stash of tobacco I had. After a while he asked if he could try a pipe. I explained to him the there were some things I don't share; my toothbrush, my guns, my wife and my pipes (not necessarily in the order) and that besides I didn't think if would be a good idea anyway because as a non smoker it might make him feel ill.

I gave him my usual speech about how he shouldn't just pick up a pipe for the first time and expect to be able to smoke it correctly, just like you couldn't pick up a violin and expect to play it properly the first time. I advised him to first go on line and learn about pipes while making notes and writing down questions which I would be happy to help him with, then get back to me and we would talk about it.

I'm taking bets on whether I ever hear from him about it again. If you're interested I'm giving 5 to 1 odds against.

Pipes arent instant gratification. And to be honest, the only reason people are smoking grape mini cigars or puffing on that pina colada vape thingy,,, is because they cant take the smell of tobacco, or they are hiding out and trying to make sure no one can smell it on them.
