Thank you to all who served, both those on this site and beyond. You make us all proud to be Americans. So again, thank you and may God bless you.

Being a member of the US Military has been the defining experience of my life. I'm particularly honored on this day to consider my forebears, going back to my great-great-...-great grandfather, who fought with Andrew Jackson at the Battle of New Orleans, all the way up through my grandfather, father, brother, and myself serving in the US Air Force.
Thanks to all who served, especially those who didn't get as warm of a welcome home as they deserved.

Looks like a great day to be in NYC!
My brother posted this picture of us in June '69, the day he left for Vietnam. I have his c-ration box camp drawings that he would send once a month, have to dig those out sometime. Eight year old Al is on the right.

Ok, I'll bite. I don't have many photos in uniform, but here's a picture of Lieutenant and Mrs. Hap shortly after I joined up. She loves it when I get an excuse to wear mess dress (the tuxedo-style uniform)

I think my brother had that style (Arty Captain) - is that for officers?
Mess dress is (at least in the Air Force) mandatory for officers, but optional for enlisted. For my money, it's a great way to prevent gaining weight-- I bought mine as a 22 year old lieutenant, and I don't want to have to buy another one as a 42 year old colonel!

My father, sometime in 1968 I believe. He passed away the 4th of January this year. I thank all the veterans today, of course, but he's the one that was most on my mind today. I miss him.

A hearty salute to my fellow combat vets. I uploaded a fun pic from my time in AF, but my phone won't let me copy the address from my album here to post it on forums. Try to add it later.

Gratitude to all who served. I didn't, but my Dad did in the European theatre with the Navy. I'll smoke all my bowls today in honor of the vets both living and dead.
I think I'll also bring down my American flag at sunset today in memorium, and keep it out until Spring time.
