I just received two Washington cobs, and thought I was having an out of body experience. They look exactly the same as the Legends I have.
WT...?!

Will someone tell me what the story is please? I feel a bit miffed that I've paid more money for no reason.

So my first corn cob was a legend bought in 2012, still have it. Yellow coating, and hard wood plug. I looked online to find another and only the Washington pipes with white coating list a hardwood plug. So I emailed them at Missouri meerschaum, to ask what's up with that. I was told that only the Washington pipes have the hardwood plug, and the legends are soft bottom. And that it's always been like that.

So I must have gotten a fluke pipe. It's sad cause I don't care for the Washington, but love the hardwood plug.

Probably doesn't help you at all, but I've been in a similar situation. Lol

Drill the plug out with a Forstner bit. Get a piece of dowel, drill a bowl shape about a 1/4-3/8 inch deep. Drill a breather hole at the suitable place in the piece of dowel. Fit it to the bowl, lining up the breather holes, use some PVA wood glue.
Piece of cake.
Did it to a few of mine. Works well.
