After hearing about G.L. Pease Triple Play plug tobacco from a fellow member, I ordered some.

I hurriedly packed a Group 3 Rhodesian to try it, basically folding it and packing some rather large

pieces. The flavor was mighty fine, but it wasn't an even smoke. I let it dry a few days (in the

closed tin) and now I have rubbed out a small bowl worth, and am letting that dry outside the tin.

The flavor is delicious, but I'd like the delivery to be more continuous and smooth, so I am thinking

of adding an equal amount of burley, to make it burn more evenly without adding too much strong

flavor. This is not a problem; it's fun to experiment and get things going by trying different things,

but any suggestions would be of interest. I've smoked sliced tobacco like Orlik Golden Slice and

Cup O Joes #5, with much pleasure, so this a a new expanded version of that. Would smoking a well

rubbed bowl in a Group 1, with no burley, be a better approach?

Slice, dice (Or rub), fill, light, smoke. Badda-bing, badda-boom.
Peterson's 3P's (Peterson's Perfect Plug) is a pretty unique and satisfying smoke.
Oh, and wouldn't how evenly, or not, ANY tobacco burns, depend on the cut and how it's packed and lit?

Two very good points, Roth, which I had overlooked. Although, wouldn't the density become a non-issue once the tobacco is prepared as one would normally prep a regular flake? Which, I would think would be the most logical way to prepare a plug. Unless, I'm misremembering my plug experience, and they really are a whole different animal altogether... :puffy:

I'd never smoked a plug but saw Pease Jack Knife so picked it up. Knowing Pease tobacco and reviews I put it away for a year. I used a razor blade, crosscut thin slices then long cube cuts. I did use a small bowl mainly because I figured it would be a long smoke and probably get hot and swell. I did dry it for a time. Needless to say it was fantastic.
I would KILL for some FVF plug! Anyone across the pond want an outstanding trade?

I went the Triple Play straight up route, in the Group 1 pipe. Yes! I rubbed it really well; these were smaller pieces around

the plug rather than the plug itself, so the experience may develop further. If you want a lot of tobacco flavor and experience

in a short amount of time, this will do it. I dried it overnight, and it felt very dry packing, but it lit nicely and stayed lit.

The nic is impressive, but the flavor is more impressive. Not my choice for first thing in the morning, but a fine blend for

the robust end of the spectrum. With this in the stash, I'm not sure I need a new tin of Nightcap right now. Roth, I should

probably age this in a jar, but I'm not sure I'll leave it alone enough to do any good; I'll see how it goes.
