Laughing at My Own Tasting Notes...

I have a habit of writing down tasting notes in bullet form while I smoke. Tonight I am smoking this 35 year old Mac Baren Scottish Blend Mixture and it is really quite superb. I just read my bulleted tasting notes and cracked up and thought I would share them. This is how I start the review process. I take these types of notes over as many bowls necessary before I feel the need to compile, compare and then mold these notes into a review. Anyways, here are my first notes for this tobacco:
• Similar to Amphora regular but with a buttery note

• Cocoa butter

• Fresh peat

• Peat moss

• Spice like the smell of a truck load of new white oak barrels

• Soft and fragrant

• White chocolate Oreos

• Buttered toast

• Sweet spice like myrrh

• Strawberry quick like rich sweet creamy

• Strawberry quick and toast

• Lightly toasted oak

• Lightly toasted peat

• Still with the strawberry quick and buttered toast

• Fresh cut grass

• Fresh cut hay and timothy

• TIMOTHY

• Timothy and buttered toast

• Pralines

• Waffle cones

• Buttered pecan

• Still strawberry quick

• Creamy and sweet

• Cream is like cocoa butter

• Soft fruit like strawberry quick and custard topped with caramelized sugar

• Light toasted oak spice

• Brown sugar and butter

• Almost pancake syrup but not sticky sweet and cloying.

• Room note is pancakes and syrup and tobacco

• THIS SHIT IS SICK!!!

I usually just load the pipe and smoke, but when, from the very beginning of the smoke, I start to identify standout flavours, I open word and whenever a taste or effect of the tobacco happens I just simply write the thought down. Takes a few of these to identify recurrent flavours and characteristics and some can seem down right silly. This was one of those with all the strawberry quick references, the TIMOTHY epiphany and the This shit is sick at the end. I don't think or analyze while I do this I just notice something and rush to the computer to write it down.

Ohin3 that's a great idea. I think I might do this and put it in a word document. That way I can hit ctrl f when I am looking for a particular taste and be able to correctly pick the right tobacco to smoke.
