Sent Jack Howell a photo of my favorite Rad Davis Rhodesian and asked if he could use that as a guideline to carve one for me with his take on it. No surprise, Jack knocked it out of the park.

Several of us have been bugging Jose Rubio to tackle the challenging Hawkbill shape. Jose discussed it with several of us, did some experimenting at his end and started carving. I love this shape but it has to have the gentle curve in the stem and shank and still pass a pipe cleaner effortlessly. I think Jose nailed it.

These two carvers are as good as it gets IMHO. Their workmanship for form, fit and function are as near flawless as possible to my eye. They're both great to work with. And best of all, their pipes smoke like a dream. Thanks Jack and Jose, I will be enjoying these pipes for years to come.

The last one is a pipe Jack recently made for a small group of us as our POTY. I already have it in my hands and have been smoking it every day. It is a near identical shape to the Howell Harris/Cigarmaster posted as one of his two favorite smoking pipes. Jack was off the charts to work with on this project. Sent multiple daily progress photos with narrative so everyone got a feel for what goes into the making of a fine Artisan pipe.

All great but the Rhodesian is an absolute showstopper. The Rad influence is clear, even if you hadn’t mentioned it, yet he made it his own. Dead perfect block placement with that ring grain radiating directly from the heel... just beautiful. Congrats!

Wow. I need to pop out another child or go back to school for another engineering degree or something to justify a purchase of something of this caliber. Your pipes always impress.
