I have had a hard time figuring out exaclty what pipe I would want when I do get one from Rad. I think this is exatly it. Sorry Harris but there will be two of these someday.

You can even see the birdseye through the stain at the end of the shank even though it is not polished.

Harris, I have a Brigham 426 Chinook that is very similar in shape to that Rad (sorry, I know that there is no comparison to be had aside from the shape) and it smokes flakes incredibly well for a tool like me. If my Brigham is any indication that pipe will be an all world smoker. Oh ya, and it is absolutely stunning in every way!

Allan, the biggest bend in my collection is this Tonni Nielsen, pretty similar to the bend in the Calabash I think.

The pipe arrived a couple of hours ago and it is incredible looking. I could not be more pleased with how it looks. I loaded it up with some 2006 Astleys no 109 as this pipe will be dedicated to VA flakes. I am down to the bottom of the bowl and as I predicted it is a flake smoking machine. It has smoked incredibly cool the entire time and as usual with a Rad pipe, it smokes bone dry. The taste of the tobacco is fantastic even though the pipe is brand new and has no cake. When I break in a new pipe I always use a blend that I am very familiar with so I get a good sense of how the pipe is performing. If a brand new pipe with no cake gives me great flavors from the get go, I know the pipe is going to be a winner.
I am extremely happy with my new Rad and I have contacted him to make me another one with a different color stain. I can see myself having a few of these for my collection.
