Likely an illusion of the shape. Two straight bores could accomplish it.

need a smooth flowing bore, not possible with 2 straight hole. and with a pencil thin shank it will be very hard to drill and intersect.and then passing cleaners will be even worse

what is the purpose of the bottom shank? a drain plug of some sort?

The draft hole must be right by the edge of the shank at those bends.
