Two excellent new pieces from the venerable Pipestud about the decline of Latakia and its future prospects:

I just bought multiple pounds of Quiet Nights, Maltese Falcon and Chelsea Morning. I don't know that it is time to "panic buy" but I think it would be a bit foolish not to cellar some of your favorite Latakia blends. If you wait until it is absolutely evident, it may be too late. I realize for the most part this is wasted words as people ignored the warnings regarding Dunhill and McClelland for quite some time and were subsequently paying significant premiums in the after market within a few months of those brands being gone from the shelves. History will undoubtedly repeat itself.

The one thing no one wants is panic buying. To say that any of us, except the folks who barely skim the surface of the online pipe community, knew nothing about Dunhill or McClelland is wrong. But, it is better to let the water stay calm as long as possible, so that it is possible to buy up as much as possible. Yelling, screaming, pulling hair, and setting off stampedes is stupid, stupid, stupid! The last few days of McClelland was crazy, with people buying shit they never liked. Panic buying is something NO ONE WANTS, except maybe people who sell tobacco. This is why we questioned everyone who posted saying that McClellands was going down, while quietly making calls and buying up what we love.
Better to just tread water and stock up on whatever you like most, not because it might be going away, but because it is the prudent thing to do.
Remember, the world sees every post on here. Seriously. After it is posted here, it hits Facebook immediately afterwards, and the other forums start churning.
