GLPease's Piccadilly has a very light touch of Latakia, and I find it tasty.
A medium Lat would be his Westminster, and his heavier Lats (Odyssey, Abingdon, Lagonda)are probably best approached after you realise that you truly lust after Latakia.
Good luck on your Lat journey - it will be interesting.

I notice that Mr Pease himself has just posted his own recommendations. It doesn't get any better than that. :puffy:

Anyone smoke the Stokkebye bulk English tobacco's?
I've tried and enjoyed PS Proper English, and English Oriental. I recommend the Proper English out of these two.

I noticed his post as well, and I plan to head his advice my ownself.

+1 on FM as an introduction to latakia. I literally had my first two bowls ever last night and today, and they were such good smokes. The initial tin note might be a bit off-putting (my wife HATES it ;) ), but man, I'm really becoming a fan of Froggie.

There have been a number of good blends put forth here. I am a big fan of McClelland but not the frog series. You might try British Woods or Oriental Mixture #8 or Rose of Latakia for a taste of a bit of Syrian Latakia. All of those GLP suggestions are very good as well.

As introductory blends I would suggest:

Rattray Highland Targe

Dunhill 965 or London Mixture

Lane LEO
These are, to me, well balanced mixtures that will introduce latakia, though it will not be the centerpiece. Try these for a while, then maybe up the ante with Pease Odyssey or one of his other Balkans, then maybe move into some Lancer's Slices from Fairmorn.
