So the globalist crime syndicate toppling Assad and installing their jihadi foot soldiers resulted in the chaos and slaughter they intended it to.

Business as usual.

The Alawites, having reached the limits of their forbearance, slaughtered a couple of jihadi convoys, including Al-Jazeera journos in the second. A helicopter was sent in to bomb them, the Russians pinged off some warning shots to keep that away from their base, which the Alawites mistakenly took for a commitment to armed support - there's at least one AK-47 in every household, they were up for a fight. But no ammo. The jihadis attacked the villagers, 3,000 dead. What a mess.

It’s a lot of dead civilians who happen to be Christian. Irreparably intertwined religion, politics, socioeconomics, tribalism and nationality.
The attacks were targeted against the Alawites, an Islamic sect that split from Shia in the 9th century. The article linked in the original post notes that Syria has a sizeable Orthodox Christian population but they weren't the main target this time.

This is the truth, but it isn't "the point." Interventionists are looking for pretexts to intervene in Syria and influence the trajectory of it's unstable political environment after the departure of Assad. It's a fragile time for Syria. If it ends up a client state of the West, it's likely to recapitulate a scenario like Afghanistan with international jihadist movements attempting to topple a central government.

I fear I may overstep the line into politics if I give a detailed reply, so let me just say two things:

1. I agree with your post.
2. Interventionists gonna' intervene.

One of the first casualties of war is free enterprise.

Until one side makes the other totally quit fighting the farmers are afraid to produce Latakia.

Then after the peace, they’d have to be free to market it.

Sadly, if Syria had a stable government tomorrow mass production Syrian Latakia wouldn't come back. Deforestation in Syria put and end to most production years ago. :(

Ozark Hillbilles don’t need many hickory trees to smoke meats.:)

I would guess there’s more shortage of Syrian hillbillies that know how to smoke tobacco than trees to smoke tobacco.:)

Fifty years or so ago when raccoon hides fetched as much as fifty dollars ($350 today) every other pickup had a coon dog cage.

I suppose all those raccoons are still out there, just nobody much hunts them because a coon hide is lucky to bring ten bucks.

When there finally is peace, what is the demand today for Syrian Latakia?
