I am stocked up as well and added few more 100g tins along for good measures and other HH line tins from 4 Noggins sale!
Yes 3 oaks Syrian has gone through the roof! was $100 before the big news and now around $130.
I think the VS will be in a feeding frenzy soon if not already!

I just popped my first tin of 3 Oaks syrian (I have another in the cellar) I really like it a lot, but not for $130.00
Sorry to steer away from your Vintage Syrian subject,

The "last" of Vintage Syrian has happened 2-3 times now,

I hate to open a can of worms but, I have a reputable source that explained to me that all they have to do is add one single strand of Syrian tobacco to this tin to call it Syrian Latakia.

In this case I dont think they can add just a pinch as the bags say and tins to I assume
"The base of the blend, a little under half of the volume, is a smooth and yet powerful latakia from Syria."
And I have to think they would like to keep their reputation intact. But who knows. And yes 3OS is good stuff but I have a hard time smoking anything @ $150 a tin.

A very reputable source, as I said I don't want to open a can of worms, that is all I will say.

This has been addressed pretty thoroughly. I'd question the reliability of your "reputable source."

The conversation reminds me somewhat of concerns surrounding Kona coffee beans, Kona coffee blends vs 100% Kona coffee.
Because of the rarity and price of Kona coffee, some retailers sell "Kona Blends". These are not a combination of different Kona coffees, but a blend of Kona and Colombian, Brazilian, or other foreign coffees. Usually they contain only the minimum required 10% Kona coffee and 90% cheaper imported beans.

Well - remind you it might, but Mac Baren has used Syrian until they couldn't any more, which is why the blend is discontinued.

I did jump on that Special when I saw it posted at SP. When I received the jar the outer lip had a small hairline crack...called SP and they sent out another Jar with Tobacco...No charge.
I just received my order from SP, I had ordered 2 of them (not having had any in my cellar, I wanted to be well covered). There's a small chip on one and the other a hairline crack running from top to bottom with a big chip at the top. Was going to gift the 2nd jar, but that ain't happening now - and as they're all out of jars, I doubt I'll get a replacement. Regardless, I'm glad I was able to procure some of this before it went away.

If they were doing that, why would they have changed the name of it to HH Vintage Latakia and substitute Cyprian?

There was a recent thread debunking this fabricated notion!

P&C backorders are useless. I had Three Oaks Syrian on backorder for months until they finally cancelled the order. Sad to see Vintage Syrian go. Glad I stocked up.

I wouldn't say that P&C backorders are useless but they are anything but reliable. Just assume you won't get it and plan accordingly. I've had backorders filled months and months after placing them, and at the sale price offered. And, I've been badly burned too.....waiting 8+ months for McC 5100 that never came comes to mind and still pisses me off, so I get it. If you have Vintage Syrian on backorder there, I'd say you might as well give up hope now on that one.

Right now, I have 4 lbs of Sutliff tobacco at 20% off currently on backorder with P&C....some Virginia Slices and some Red Ribbon. It might take some time, but I really have little doubt I will eventually receive them, and locked in at the sale price. That's better than being told "sorry, out of stock", for sure.

I've got a decent supply of HH VS - I stocked up ages ago, after talking to Per Jepsen (I think that's right) of MacB at Chicago in 2015. I'll get by.

Here
One thing I found out with P&C back-order. If you use PayPal and the wait goes over 30 days, the PayPal payment will "time out" and the order will then go into something of a limbo status until you call and ask what's going on.
Then you can straighten it out with customer service. I had PS LBF back order for months. Saw it was in stock. Called to see what was up. Learned that bit about PayPal from her and got the ball rolling.
More damned first world problems.... :puffy:

I said I don't want to open a can of worms and I apologize, I also read the other thread.

It is just fishy to me that they re-released it numerous times after the warehouse fire here, after everything else was gone for years. That's all I am saying. Oh and I think it doesn't taste as good as 3 oaks syrian.
