I'm off to Vegas for a few days in the near future.
Some of the lads will be going off to the gun range for a couple hours and I'm thinking I may spend that time piping around town as I've done the range thing before. It is my estimate that in lieu of the price of a few rounds with insane firearms I can get myself a much needed new - fourth - pipe and perhaps a new blend...
Does anyone have any recommendations for a good tobacco/pipe shop?

You can always use the pipe stire locator on this site, but a lot of the casinos have cigar/pipe shops built in. I know for a fact, that Caesars has one in the forum shops.

I live in Vegas and honestly all that's on The Strip are over priced kiosks that sell cigars. Like everything else they just prey on tourists who go, "Oh, we're in Vegas lets have a few cigars to celebrate.". There is a Davidoff store in I think Bally's, but it's mostly just cigars and a few meerschaums. The only other tobacco related store I can think of on The Strip is Casa Fuente which is an Arturo Fuente store, so it's only cigars.
The best shop in town is Tobacco Leaf on Lake Mead just off the 95. From The Strip it's about a 15 minute ride as long as traffic is light, typical rush hours in every city apply. They have some Dunhills, a lot of Petersons and Savinellis, some Castellos and I'm sure a few other makes that I'm forgetting. Plus, they have a pretty good tin selection. Typically a few Peterson blends, some Mac Baren blends, some McClelland blends, and they have a good number of Stokkebye bulk blends. They also have a rather spacious lounge in the back if you end up with enough time you can easily sit down and enjoy a bowl.
There's also an In-N-Out right across the street from it, so it's well worth the price of a car rental or taxi fare.
BTW saw your avatar and have to say I'm lovin' the Hamburglar. Hope the Sens make the playoffs.

I will no doubt be keeping an eye open in the casinos for shops and lounges but it sounds like Tobacco Leaf will fit the bill nicely. I've never been to an In-N-Out so that's two birds one stone. Fantastic. Maybe even three as I've yet to have the lounge experience.
"I'm Lovin' the Hamburlglar"...well said. hahha

The whole city is a buzz here and I think its very cool to hear the support from Vegas. I was there last year during the NHL playoffs - L.A. was coming back against SanJose - and was amazed at the amount of hockey fans. I even had a blackjack dealer with a Kings tattoo on her forearm.
Cheers and Thanks!

Not so much on the pipe and pipe tobacco front, but what I've heard good about The Strip is that they have really cheap food to keep the tourists in the casinos, especially breakfast, and, if you're so inclined, some surprisingly good fine art courtesy of the late multi-millionaire J. Paul Getty and others who brought serious art to LV. Please let us know if you discover any pipe shops that don't require an additional drive; that would be worth knowing.

Once the corporations took over they jacked the prices way up on The Strip even with the buffets. Honestly, most of the best eating, shopping, pipe shops etc. are all off The Strip.

Vegas is a city of transplants and there's a good number of people here from hockey areas like Minnesota, Chicago, Detroit, and Canada. The ticket drive that Foley is doing to get a team here already has 9,000 deposits down for season tickets.
I myself grew up in Cincinnati Ohio and have loved the game ever since I was 7yrs old, just turned 30. I'm mostly a fan of the game, but I do have favorite teams. My favorite teams are the Blue Jackets, being from Ohio, and the Bruins. It's a bit of an odd situation, because I'm loving the Hammond story and how the Sens have come together as a team and are making a playoff push, but with the poor season Boston has had compared to recent seasons the Sens are now in a race with the Bruins for a Wild Card spot. In the end though it's just a game, so best of luck to the Hamburglar and the Sens.

This will be my third "guys" trip to Las Vegas and I found that what lordofthepipe said is true with regards to the pricing on the strip. The only thing I found that is cheap are the drinks when your gambling...they are free. At a show I ordered two beers and my friend ordered two ry and gingers. The bill came and his drinks cost $26 and my two beers $5. lol, his turn to buy...

In many touristy places the best is often off the beaten path and locals are usually the key. Although, if your going to Vegas your probably looking for the big lights...which are on the strip. Honestly, I never thought it would be a place I would like but I've had some epic good times.
The Blue Jackets have had a rough year with injuries...too bad as they looked great at the end of last season. Tuff team to be a fan of. Way to hang in there. :) I hope they can put together a good season soon it seems like they have a real good fan base. They also have one of the better uni's.

I'm also oddly a fan of L.A. still from back when Gretzky played there...I was super young but I still have some old merch.
Big game here tonight. Hopefully sitting in a playoff spot by morning.

I actually have a book called Z Is For Zamboni which is a learn the alphabet book using hockey players/references. Obviously G is for Gretzky. Every February he does his Fantasy Camp here in Las Vegas. One year I was lucky enough to get him to sign the page he's on in the book.
In the book B is for Bobby, Hull and Orr. That same year Brett was playing and Bobby came to watch, so I was able to get Bobby Hull to sign his page as well.

Congrats on the win and waking up in a playoff spot this morning.
