Joking in another thread about a briar toilet seat got me thinking about the dimensional limits of briar.
What's the largest briar anyone has seen or heard of?
What's the largest object made of briar anyone has seen?
The Gilmer Wood Company website states that the heath plant ("shrub") needs to reach about 40 years of age, roughly 4-10" in diameter and 20-25 feet in height. This will produce a burl (the part between the root & the stem) somewhere between the size of a bowling ball and a basketball.
Pics essential, of course... :P
My anemic Google-Fu produced few examples.
