Leonard is a good and positive influence for Lane and the pipe smoking community! I will raise a glass and toast his efforts for our behalf!!!
Hear! Hear!
No doubt!
Three Cheers!
Leonard said this one year ago,

"The question everyone has is: Will the old Lane blends come back? If I have anything to do with it (and it's kind of my job), the answer is yes. But it may take about a year or so."

That is outstanding work on the part of Leonard. Makes me happy just knowing that someone put that much effort into to accurately bringing back an old beloved blend. I can't wait to try some.

Very cool story! And those employees that thought to jot down the original recipe deserve some sort of compensation. I've never tried the blend, either version, but I will definitely purchase a tin upon relaunch. I'll be looking forward to it.

I am impressed by the effort that went into tracking down all the bits necessary to restore this old blend and will be sure to get me some. Well done.

Thanks for all the kind words. This one has been a (prolonged) labor of love. I am completely blinded by my bias for this re-creation, of course, but I've been smoking it exclusively for about two weeks and I'm kind of loving it.
I also wanted to publicly thank papipeguy for sending me a sample of his cellared Crown Achievement back in July.

So what's in CA? Tobacco reviews, seem to be incorrect because the article hear mentions Perique and not even the Cavendish that was substituted.
From what I'm gathering it's a heavier English, made up of Virginia, Latakia, and Perique?

Jah: The description on tobacco reviews is correct, if incomplete. The presence of perique/black cav was not something that was previously publicized about the blend.

Gotcha. Thanks very much Leonard! It might be a little heavier in Latakia then I normally enjoy (Leo, Chelsea Morning, EMP) but I'm looking forward to trying it.

By my experience with the sample from papipeguy, the blend was a very smooth lat-heavy blend, similar to MM965 but far smoother (the sample was quite old!). I can't wait to compare the two.

I've only had the match, and loved it. It is a little Lat heavy, but very smooth, and I love Lat anyway.
