Well one is a bulk that’s not really packed up nice in a pouch or can and the other has a ton more PG on it for shelf life.

For me, as someone who isn’t a huge lover of aromatics (though the ladies say they love em ;)) I keep about 4oz of RLP-6 on hand to scratch that itch I do get once every seven or so years…

I like both, but only have RLP-6 on hand. It seems less chemical tasting on account of not having nearly as much (or any?) PG. It smells about the same and I pick up the same flavors as CBW with it.

I've always felt there was no sense in buying Captain Black when there's 1Q and RLP6, though I have heard that Captain Black is much better in the tub rather than pouch

I only ended up with it because I walked into a local "tobacco" shop that was full of what you would expect (weed paraphernalia, kratom, glass pipes and such). I was shocked to see captain black white and gold pouches there so I had to get one of each.

There's a ton in my area. Usually I get some pipe cleaners or filters as a courtesy purchase but sometimes they have a decent humidor and I'll grab a cigar I like.

I'll toss in my two cents on the great Captain Black Original vs Lane RLP-6 debate!puffy

The topping seems to be the same on both blends, but Captain Black is noticably more heavily topped and features more black cavendish and less burley; giving the smoke from Captain Black greater density and more sweetness than RLP-6.

I actually prefer Captain Black over RLP-6, since I very much like the flavor of the topping (which tastes almost identical to Coffee Mate Italian Sweet Créme coffee creamer to me) and it's more prominent in Captain Black, whereas with RLP-6 you get less of that creamy vanilla topping flavor and more of a somewhat low grade sweetened burley taste. I also find the retrohale on Captain Black original to be completely smooth and comfortable, whereas the retrohale on Lane RLP-6 tends to sting my sinuses a bit.

So, between the two I'll stick with Captain Black. For a visual comparison, here's Captain Black original on the left vs Lane RLP-6 on the right:

I think the base tobacco is the same but the pouch stuff looks a bit darker because it is more heavily sauced and/or PG'd. Smell is slightly different but similar between the two to me with RLP-6 smelling 'brighter' and slightly fruitier the CB Original. When smoking, the sweetness of the top note on CB Original seems more pronounced than RLP-6.

Your RLP looks much darker than mine, so maybe it's just batch to batch differences. I only had about a half ounce of RLP left so I mixed them. I also had an ounce of the Lane equivalent to the Gold (didn't know about that one) and they indeed look and smell the same so those now share the same jar too.
