Tried a few here and there, but BCA is the only one I kept in any amount more than sample size. I found LL-7 and RLP-6 to be fine, but redundant to each other, and not as good as Sutliff 1M in my opinion. TK-6 is a fine choice if you like cherry, but seeing as I only go for that myself once in a blood red moon...okay, bad pun, but I've got a couple tins of that, so no need to bog down my cellar with extraneous variety (which is already something of a problem, admittedly). 1Q wasn't bad, but my taste buds did notice the absence of burley, and thought it came up short for that reason.

BCA is fantastic, but like most aromatics, make sure you dry it thoroughly. Otherwise, it's like smoking flavored bus exhaust.

I don't mind HGL for a little aromatic, little Latakia mix. 1Q is a classic but it's not complex. Just a nice mellow smoke. BCA is great, probably the best straight Cavendish mix out there. Too wet though.

I think I've tried nearly all the Lane bulk blends now and I think they are all quite decent and worth a try. My favorites are probably 1Q, BCA and MV 1000 which correspond to Captain Black Royal, Dark and Gold respectively.

Lane BCA and RLP-6 are excellent tobaccos for using as mixers for home blending. Denglers Black Maria adds Latakia and Perique to RLP-6 and makes a fine, smooth tasting English. Add a bit of Maryland and Turkish instead and you have a great tasting oriental forward tobacco. My own home blend that I use for a base is BCA and Sutliff Nougat. Top it off with Latakia and Perique and I have The Doctor‘s Own. The one I am smoking right now used 16% each of RLP-6 and BCA with 25% Latakia, 16% Perique, a couple of different orientals, Burley and some Cherry cavendish- all pressed and aged to make one hell of a smooth tasting tobacco.

Lane basic blends can absolutely be the beginning of something you can make your own.

1-Q, BCA and HGL I cellar in pounds. I have pint jars of quite a few of other Lane blends.
A 7:1 ratio of 1Q and Frosty Mint makes for a Kool tasting smoke. Keep it in the jar for a few months before you smoke it - Frosty mint needs time with others even in small amounts if it is to play well and complement the master blend.

I had a bitch of a time keeping the BCA lit, so I mixed in some Stokkebye English and it came out rather nicely. There is a custom blend at my local shop that I absolutely love and I'm pretty sure BCA makes up the majority of it.

I give another vote for HGL. It was the first blend with Latakia I ever tried and the second pipe tobacco I ever tried and I was hooked! 1Q isn't bad either.

I used to smoke quite a bit of Crown Achievement. Of course, it's no longer made. I also used to get Nightcap and 965 in bulk and understand that they were blended by Lane here in the US. I don't smoke any Lane offerings today.
