A fine brick of pipe tobacco from Cuba. I look forward to trying this. It is a bit dry so I will be letting it sit in a mason jar to rehydrate (slowly) for a couple weeks. I'll be in Mexico on Friday for a two week trip, so I will be hitting this pipe tobacco when I return. 8)
I unwrapped the tobacco to inspect, and the awesome aroma hit me. The smell is really nice, very earthy smelling. I bet it is strong stuff. It comes in what looks like a one pound brick of flake tobacco, same as the Partagas brand.

Wow, I never even thought about getting cuban pipe tobacco. I assume the embargo is the same for this as cigars.

The only place I have been able to get it is from the cigar shops in Cuba like the La Casa Del Habanos shops. I don't go to the island but I have friends that do. They mule it back for me. I have never seen it in any tobacco shops in Europe, Asia, or Latin Americas. So my guess is you can only get it in Cuba.

Hellar asked
what is ghosting a pipe?

It's the residual flavor of a previously smoked tobacco affecting the taste of subsequent smokes.
Which leads to my question: what kind of leaf(s) or type of blend is it? Is it aromatic, naturally flavored/scented? Cigar-like?

Okay, a little searching turned up a Canadian source for La Escepcion, the Epicure Cigar & Pipe, who says:
For the adventurous smoker, we also carry La Escepcion pipe tobacco, made from

genuine Cuban cigar leaf, to offer an incomparable smoking experience.

They don't appear to have an online store, but they do post a phone # and e-mail address.

According to another source, the Spanish word “picadura” on the above box refers to shredded tobacco

(usually salvaged quality leaf) intended for pipe or roll-your-own cigarettes. You won’t see it often because

[1] Cuba didn’t produce much, [2] very little was exported and [3] VERY little was sent to the U.S.
So that sorta answers some questions, I would guess.

Not the ATF is watching our site but cuban tobacco is illegal in the us. You just never know when big brother is watching and you know they wont to shut down every thing tobacco related

Very spicy from the start, lots of earth, straight forward Cuban tobacco flavors. The spiciness tones down as you smoke down the pipe. Smoke slow and steady will yield generous amount of flavors. Really enjoyable pipe tobacco. If you can get a hold of this tobacco, and enjoy Cuban tobacco, do so. A very satisfying smoke.

Sounds like fun . Is it me or is the embargo just stupid .The cold war is over and Castro is as good as dead . Bring on the cigars !
