I had to look up the tulip buyers. What a fun piece of history I was previously unaware of. At least I can smoke my over priced tins. Better than a beanie baby!

Do you have a favorite underrated current production blend worth recommending? At the end of the day my goal is to try good tobacco not delay my retirement lol.
Give Chenets Cake a try (C&D) in my humble opinion one of the best vapors in production and made for cellaring. I think you'll like it

Krumble Kake was great stuff. Imagine Penzance with Syrian Latakia included.

I I saw the high prices and went to check my stash. I have 2 tins. One was dried out, so I reconstituted it and have been enjoying it. The second weighs more and doesn’t rattle when shaken. I am trying to figure out if I can sell it, as I’m not certain of the condition.
You can always sell it. On the secondary market it's caveat emptor. Nobody guarantees the contents with a refund.

Mostly that’s true. But Steve (@pipestud) will usually makes things right if there’s an obvious issue they should haven been caught like penetrating rust. And most consignors on Tinbids let you know what you can expect like if something’s been open.

Gross misrepresentation (eg claiming a tin is unopened when untrue) should be remedied but beyond that as Jesse says you’re on your own. Buyers of vintage tobacco and wine pays their money and takes their chances.

Is that mold or plume? Fuck it, I'd smoke it.
You’d have to be a one percenter. Anyone looking for a unicorn tobacco to buy can’t do better than Mold-‘n-Plume. This legendary blend singlehandedly brought ruin on the House of Sobranie, forcing its sale to Gallaher in 1980. A bold idea decades ahead of its time Sobranie bet big on its success. In a first for the company it spent millions of pounds on a spectacularly lackluster ad campaign (Terry Thomas was the spokesman). Of the few pipesmokers who were lured into buying a tin many went to the hospital, and of those literally all (or their heirs) joined in a class action suit to take Sobranie for every farthing it had. Part of the settlement required the recall and destruction of all unsold tins. It has been estimated that less than a dozen survived the purge. For those for whom price is no object M-‘n-P satisfies the most recherché of tastes.
