Good morning,

I have been online since Christmas trying to find a Castello Shape 55 sea rock with a smooth rim. I can not find one (new or estate) for a decent price so I am coming to you guys. I have been on ebay but the estate pipes wind up selling for close to a new one!

Do any of you know if any other pipemakers make a pipe similar to a Castello Shape 55? I am just looking for the manufacturers and then I will see which finish works for me. I have one Castello pipe and I love the way she smokes, just trying to find another to match.

Thanks!

If you contact Moretti he can make one for you.

Stem comfort/thickness very similar to a Dagner cob and I know at least one other forum member who has one and enjoy his work.

I have this enlarged "66" that I commissioned with a smooth rim:

Also here's a faux Castello 75 "lovat" he made for me in morta, one of my top smokers:

EDIT: when I said I know another forum member, I meant I know of at least one other member who actually has a mock 55 by Moretti and it looks fantastic.

Now that I'm thinking about it Chris Askwith makes a great morta 55 too.

Radice makes a similar pipe and you can find them for a good deal from Italian pipesellers.

Moretti clones them regularly, and there is almost always one on his ebay page (bima1960). I've seen them go for as low as $100.

He has one up right now, matter of fact:

Radice also does quite a few 55 clones.

This is what I am looking for! I like the shape but they always seem to be a bit out of reach for me. I will keep an eye on this moretti for a bit. Thank you!

Charatan pots have that chin your looking for. It’s not as pronounced, but definitely there. And can be had for under 200.

I did it! I got a Moretti!!! First off, Marco is a super friendly and very attentive proprietor. He communicated with me via email throughout the whole process and was always very courteous and respectful! He made my pipe in a few days and in 2 days, I was smoking it!
Great man, great shop and made me a great pipe! For your enjoyment, my new Moretti 55 XXL!F18ED595-17D2-4AA0-BF73-F7DA6A2EAE7D.jpegC0C617B0-303F-4AE1-A40D-6F1D70A575ED.jpeg
