Class act hedonaut. I have been thinking about pulling the trigger on this model as my Xikar Resource is lacking in performance. I have had it for almost 2 years and I did return it once to Xikar and instead of repairs they just sent me a new one. Great warranty, but I want it to work all the time.
So I wanted to Update any potential purchasers.
I haven't PM'd Hedonaut yet because, the lighter just started working. First light, every time. It's strange because I purged the lighter before refilling and everything. Must still have had a bit of a blockage or trapped air. All the same, it's working great now!
I bought this lighter, an 8deco tamper and a vintage silver tray to rest the tamper in. My smoking experience has improved tenfold. I've always found the act of smoking a pipe a very tangible experience. Going from a plastic bic and an always seized up czech tool to a sturdy metal lighter with a satisfying snap when the snuffer closes and a tamper with a nice wooden handle which creates perfect little mounds of tobacco is just bliss.
I have to thank Hedonaut and Laudisi for offering to provide the means to return the lighter to be looked at. But I am so pleased to not have to be without it!
