Borders is going bankrupt not Barnes and Noble . They just closed the store in our town center and it will be greatly missed . My daughter takes advanced English classes and they always had her reading list in stock . As for apple they can keep it . Buy a song and you can only play it on five devices . And who the heck would build a pad without a USB port . Apple sucks twice as bad now that Microsoft owns them at least I can hack Microsoft or run Ubantu . Glad I got that off my chest .

While Borders is going out, the Kobo is ot. It's a separate company and if you can get on of the dressers on clearance, it's a good deal. I have an iPad and a kobo and they are both great but the Kobo is hands down the better reader as I imagine the Kindle is. The iPad can't be read in bright sun but it can be loaded with the Kobo, Kindle and Nook software so you can read anything from any company.

I use my iPad 2, it,s the best e-reafer anyone could ask for, not to mention more versatile, and the Kobo app kicks ass, sadly more expensive.

It's actually not the best ereader, though it is more versatile. The problem with the iPad is that it's worthless for reading in the sun and the screen is extremely vulnerable to glare and smudges. If I could only have one, it would be the iPad hands down but for reading, an ereader wins.

iPad, it does so much more than just e-book reading. But, the e-ink technology is compelling and doesn't need to be re-charged as often as an iPad and, as hauntedmyst says - it is much easier on the eyes. I guess go have a look at all three devices and then decide.

i actually wonderd what the hell you lot where on about, but now i understand, personally i prefer turning pages of a real book and spilling coffee into them and dropping bits of tobaco into the the middle and dropping them into the bath but rescuing them in time etc, etc ,etc

I love my real books, but I also love the hell out of my Kindle. Which I believe may have been stolen out of my truck recently, just like my Zune HD and a hard drive...lucky the thief didn't take my pipes!

The eink is amazing. It looks like a real page. Just no turning pages...and no losing your page!

I think the look of the Kindle device is sort of 70s retro style, whereas the iPad is pure Apple design.

True! I find the ereader is actually easier to read than a real book for ADD types like me. Having the solid black boarder and one paragraph at a time makes it really easy to stay focused. Where as I used to read about a book a month, now I read about 4.

I've a kindle and love it. Especially for traveling and reading outside. There's something about the screen that's easier on your eyes as well, even more so than a normal book. I tend to get migraines with a great deal of photosensitivity, so thats a big deal to me.
