Kendal Kentucky vs Dark Birdseye?

I have a fair amount of DB but it seems a lot of folks like KK. Reading reviews is confusing in that some like KK as a standalone but many others think that the Virginia added to create DB makes it so much better. So, is it worth trying as a standalone or do folks buy it for blending mostly?

It is worth trying as a stand alone in my opinion but I would only order an ounce or two. I prefer DBE as it seems a bit more well rounded but I think you will find that they are very similar. Kendal Kentucky, Dark Bird's Eye & Kendal Dark are all very similar in my opinion.
And if you like that genre I would highly recommend trying Kendal Dark Vanilla if you haven't already.

DBE is a favorite. It hits all the right notes and I like using it as a booster for the few Aros I have. Trout stream and DBE were made for each other. Will give the dark vanilla a shot.

I would not hesitate to order whatever amounts you want of these. I am more partial to the birdseye but both of these are total winners.

I am pretty certain DBE is the one out of two to me, but KK will have to be sampled as well, just because it gets so many accolades. I do want to try a straight Kentucky, anyway.
If you found DBE too sweet, you probably want to tr KK.

Aquadoc, Autumn Evening and DBE go very well together as well. If you have some AE on hand, give it a shot.
I have not yet tried Trout Stream but I bet I would like it with DBE in it. The main reason I stay way from American aros is they have no backbone. British style aromatics are the ones I gravitate towards, they got it right a long time ago.

What British Aros do you recommend? I like Grousemoor but it is not an every day smoke. Rum Flake is going to have to wait for a retry. Would like to find something like Autumn Evening that does not require adding a bottom note such as DBE.

As far as British aromatics go: I love stuff like Bosun Cut Plug, Kendal Flake and Broken Flake #7 all from GH&Co. Also check out their twist tobaccos. Sweet Maple Twist is similar to Autumn Evening but with a backbone. I also love Coconut Twist. Actually, all of the flavored and non-flavored twists are worth checking out in my opinion.
I love the traditional British scented tobaccos along with the Irish scented blends.
Of course I don't have to mention, St. Bruno and Condor but I will just in case.
Maltan Ready Rubbed is stellar as well.
Also, not a heavily scented tobacco but one of my new favorites is GH&Co Westmorland Slices (not to be confused with Samuel Gawith's Westmorland Mixture).

Before I lost a boatload of weight and had the nicotine tolerance of the marlboro man, I loved both of these. DBE has a more subtle flavor and a little less vitamin n, but the KK has a punch that can't be beat. I enjoyed them both immensely.

Early last year I bought 2oz of each of these blends to try and found them to be very similar in taste. So much so I mixed the two together and jarred it up.
Not touched it since then so I shall now dig it out to see how it's doing ::
