Ken is a unique blender for sure. To my palate, his blends are hit and miss. The only thing that sucks is sometimes he will nail a blend but a couple years later it could be very different, presumably because he doesn't have access to massive supply.

Ken’s blends, if you’re not aware of often change, newer blends created, or limited blends discontinued on a regular basis.

As an example, have either of your heard of Anne Cap, Sakura, or Verge Engine Overdrive?

Ken, regularly has around 50 blends for sale at a time, and then with all the rotating of blends that can occur in a year, we might be talking in the area of around 60 blends for a particular year.

Unless you’ve smoked everyone of his blends, how can any pipe smoker say there’s nothing there for them to enjoy.

Trust me when I say this, you smoke enough of his blends you will eventually find something you quite enjoy, the variety is to vast not to find something.

Anyhow, I’m just giving some friendly feedback, because if you definitely like to try unique blends, then you will definitely want to keep his site bookmarked.

@InWithBothFeet yes definitely, top notch boutique blends! I’ve heard the same things in the past from other smokers, saying not their thing, which I personally don’t get, unless someone smoked all 50 blends for sale in a particular year. I assume, it’s just whatever few blends someone tried they didn’t like and moved on, because when you look in WAYs, I’ve never seen one smoker post 10 blends they had smoked from Ken, typically only a few blends here and there.

Let’s ask the Pipe man @JimInks what’s your thoughts these days on Ken’s blends? Please share Jim… :)

P.S. I actually thought Jim was making his debut appearance over there? LOL 😝 I do say, you actually look quite dapper there Jim, in the nice threads… :)

I was greatly surprised when KBV changed the name of Bright Flek to Jim's Special Flake. Here's the story behind it:

A friend gifted me two Mark Twain Peterson pipes (and third later on) because he knew I am a Twain fan, and we share the same birthday, only I was born later. :) I wanted to dedicate the first two to straight Virginias so I asked him if he'd make another run of Bright Flek and Brown Flek so I could have an ample supply for those pipes.

As a tribute to me, he not only renamed Bright Flek, but instructed the artist he hired to draw a hedgehog because I was an artist on the Sonic the Hedgehog comic book for twenty-one years. As I have a Master's in Fine Art degree, he had that aspect of my life represented, too. What he didn't know was that the only sweaters I wear are the button up style.

I didn't know he did all this until the tobacco arrived. I consider the tribute to be a generous, thoughtful honor.

As for his blends, I have always thought that they were high quality products.

Van Gogh, burly morning pipe... A couple others, really enjoyed. Don't know how much they vary from year to year...but top shelf.
