That sandblast Teddy posted in a link is amazing and I've looked at it probably a dozen times. I held it in the shop at Parklane last year, it is a very nicely made pipe. I'm heading back that way in two weeks,hmmmm.......

An excellent source of information for Kaywoodie pipes can be found under Tony Sodetman's EBay listings.
His Ebay ID is mr.can.
The letters are all lower case. He currently has some for sale and his descriptions always provide information about the pipe he is offering for sale along with good history on the company that made the pipe.

The older Adjustomatic style grabows are the way to go, not so much the filter pipes.
I have a 1938 Kaywoodie in pristine condition, that is in my regular rotation. Adjusted for inflation, the price listed on the literature for the day would put it in today's prices in the $60-$100 mark.

That's awesome. I've been temped to buy the old mags I see on eBay to see how things were priced and what tobaccos and companies were relevant in that day.
I had a beautiful Kaywoodie freehand, nearly full bent with a lovely silver band, smoked great! Over time I just wasnt happy with it in my collection so moved it on.

My first estate pipe was a Kaywoodie Standard 1/4 bent Prince. I love that pipe and its in my rotation.
Al - that gorgeous Rhody is one of Bill Feuerbach's handmades, maybe a POY. He has some of the POYs at the upcoming KW Holiday SloSmoke Party, and I could nab one of these for you at a discount.
I have a number of recent KWs as well as some oldies. The handmades are Best Buys for artisan pipes, as BillF knows a huge amount about pipes and has access to mountains of briar. I only have the one so far because they tend to be pretty big, and my tastes lately tend to small bowls. Some of the new and old KWs are my best puffers.

LOL! I've been staring at that very same pipe/link on the PLane website in the past few days!! Did you ever buy it Al? The last pic makes it look like there is a crack in the stem. You held it... is there? Saving my nickels for a big chunky pipe like this, either new or estate.
wild - re "The last pic makes it look like there is a crack in the stem." -- I doubt that PaulB @ PL would let a pipe with a crack be offered for sale. After all, he's a pipemaker himself, and a darned good one too. Besides, the maker of this piece is his good friend Bill Feuerbach, and he would never put his name on a defective piece. KW has a machine that does the blasting/rustication and I've seen some pieces that develop a distinctive surface that might resemble a crack-like convolution due to the hardness/softness of that part of the briar. But I wouldn't worry a bit about that convolution.

@les: Yes, The folks at PL run a tight ship! I enjoy stopping by on occasion. It must just be a glitch in the photo, both here and on the PL site that makes the last/bottom shot of the pipe/stem look a little wonky... I dig this pipe for sure!! :D
Can anyone help me out on a particular kaywoodie, the make is a 9-S with a clover on the stem. 5 1/2 inches long and the bowl is 1 1/4 inches high and 1 5/8 wide. Anybody know when these were made, and how much they fetch?
