I finished up the stem on this little thing. The shape number looks like 08 or 09 X. The stamping is very faint. Does anyone know about the X on this pipe? I've never come across a Kaywoodie stamped with an X.

The rim was black and a little miffed up. I didn't do anything else to the briar except for get all the caked on soot off of it. The cake was reamed back too. Unfortunately, the stinger had been cut off. Still a nice little pipe though.

Ah! Thank you for the clarification, gents. I didn't try to date it myself but my guess is 1950's - 1970's. Probably 60's? I'd have to scan the net to get any closer than that time frame.

I love them too. I like fixing them up more than I like smoking them though. I think I'm going to hit the bowl with wax to finish it off. I get torn because I just love the look of old briar after it's been handled.
My apologies for the double pics. My dyslexia kicked in there while I was trying to post the links.
