Hey all, I have a cool little Kaywoodie I'm about to restore, but I'm having a hard time figuring out when it was made. Oddly the only markings on it are "Kaywoodie" on one side "G" on the other, white clover leaf on the side of the stem, no other markings. From the research I've done they usually have 2-4 number codes?
I like the shape, it looks like a mini churchwarden, unfortunately someone made a mess of it by drilling and implanting several tiny "diamonds" in it, some of which were already missing (I took out the rest), I plan on filling in the holes.
Any ideas on when it was made?
Thanks in advance.

If I were to take a WAG, I'd say it's one of their "ladies' pipes" which I haven't found much date information on. A further WAG would be that it is post ww2 through early 60s make as they did some experiments during that time.

EDIT: actually it is possibly earlier than that looking at the clover shape and makeup.

Thanks for the laugh, I'm not surprised you thought someone added them, but believe it or not, that's how the came from Kaywoodie.

Its called "Lady Briar". Very few exist, certainly not in great condition for obvious reasons. I couldn't tell you much about the age other that I'd guess it's post the SM Frank acquisition (after '55).

You can read this piece someone put together: Lady Briar

FYI I have a kaywoodie White Briar in storage that has a similar size/shape /stinger combo that is also hard to find info on. Despite thorough restoration I doubt it would ever be a good smoker. While Kaywoodie was known mostly for three and four hole stingers, I believe we share what I call the "One hole" stinger.

That one hole is about the size one of the three or four holes found in their other stinger styles.

I'm somewhat surprised considering some of the holes/diamonds where not very symmetrical.

Resurrecting an old thread here. I recently picked up a white Kaywoodie Lady Briar at an antique shop. I searched the forum and found this thread. It has the one hole stinger the OP mentioned. Some of the rhinestones (green, red, yellow) are missing, but for $9, I couldn’t pass it up. It’s never been smoked and I’ll probably just hold on to it for a conversation piece. Cool find!

A couple more pics. The stem is acrylic and does have a “T” in a circle like I saw with some others. It does have a stinger and nothing but “Yello-Bole THORN” on the stummel.

Campus don’t have shape/finish codes, and it seems the Lady Briars don’t either. Both lines were available in white briar finish.
Neither lines had the patented Kaywoodie Drinkless Synchrostem.
The early Ladies had a stinger that predated the Campus “spike” that had a condenser “ball” behind the spike. I don’t know if later (once the Campuses were out) both lines went to the same stinger, as I’ve never been interested in the Lady line.

This is my understanding up to this point in time, I’m no expert, just a guy that’s looked into it a little because Kaywoodie is my choice of older American pipes.
Please do your own research and bring your findings back.

With reference to what @spicy_boiii calls a “One hole” stinger, all Kaywoodie stingers draw through one hole…..
